The Tarrazu Region

The Tarrazu region is located in the interior mountains of Costa Rica and is known to produce distinguished coffee. Tarrazu is a market name for coffees produced and processed within the region. Coffee from this area is known to be relatively heavy-bodied with a complex aroma.

Harvesting & Processing

In Tarrazú, the year is divided into two distinct seasons: the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season spans seven months from May to November and coincides with the period when coffee plants are actively growing. The dry season occurs from December to April, a five-month span during the harvest time. This clearly defined climate pattern creates an excellent environment for cultivating coffee, leading to the production of consistently high-quality coffee cherries that ripen uniformly.
